Description
A refreshing iced tea that blends the flavors of Washington apples with aromatic spices and invigorating green tea, perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
- 2 Gala Washington® apples
- 2 Golden Washington® apples
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 pieces of star anise
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 4 bags of green tea (or lemon tea)
- Ice, to taste
- 1 Gala Washington® apple, for garnish
- 1 Golden Washington® apple, for garnish
- 4 thinly sliced lemons
- 4 sprigs of mint
Instructions
- Cut the apples into quarters and remove the seeds.
- Place the quartered apples in a pot with a liter and a half of water, the cinnamon stick, star anise, and brown sugar.
- Cover the pot and simmer on medium heat for one hour.
- Strain the mixture to extract all the pulp. Reserve the liquid and let it cool.
- Boil a liter of water and steep the four bags of green tea for 20 minutes.
- Fill a pitcher with ice and add the apple pulp. Pour in the cooled green tea and mix well. If desired, adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar.
- For each glass, add more ice and garnish with lemon slices and small apple pieces.
- Pour the iced tea over the prepared glasses, ensuring it’s very cold.
Notes
Using high-quality Washington apples enhances flavor. You can prepare the apple mixture a day in advance for ease of serving.
