Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (450 grams)

- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
- 1 cup (240 ml) canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed (170 grams)
- 1 cup (240 ml) canned chickpeas, drained (165 grams)
- 1 cup (240 ml) tomato sauce (240 milliliters)
- 2 cups (480 ml) shredded mozzarella cheese (200 grams)
- 1 package refrigerated pie crust
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh parsley, chopped (15 grams)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- Add ground venison to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Sprinkle cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over the meat. Stir to combine.
- Mix in black beans, corn, and salsa. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.
- Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish.
- Spoon the venison mixture into the pie crust, spreading evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the venison mixture.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
