Description

Delightful dessert cups layered with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and crumbled shortcake, capturing the essence of summer.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup prepared shortcake or pound cake, crumbled
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine sliced strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Let sit for about 15 minutes until the strawberries release their juices.
  2. Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in another bowl until soft peaks form.
  3. Layer the crumbled shortcake in serving cups, followed by a layer of strawberries, and then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat the layers until the cups are filled.
  4. Garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, use locally sourced strawberries in season for maximum flavor. Assemble the cups close to serving time for the best texture.
