Description

A comforting and hearty savory ground venison tater tot casserole that’s perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground venison
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 bag of tater tots
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil or butter for sautéing


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat a little oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the ground venison to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables, mixing well.
  5. Transfer the venison mixture to a baking dish.
  6. Layer the tater tots on top of the mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or crusty bread for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
