A comforting and hearty savory ground venison tater tot casserole that’s perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground venison
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 bag of tater tots
- 1 onion, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil or butter for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Heat a little oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground venison to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables, mixing well.
- Transfer the venison mixture to a baking dish.
- Layer the tater tots on top of the mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve with a side salad or crusty bread for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
