Description
A delicious and crowd-pleasing Philly cheesesteak stromboli filled with savory ground beef, sautéed onions, and gooey mozzarella cheese, all wrapped in crispy pizza dough.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1 (8-oz) pkg shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 (8-oz) bottle Parmesan-peppercorn dressing, divided
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Cook the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned and crumbly. Drain excess fat and return mixture to the skillet.
- Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, allowing flavors to meld.
- Unroll the pizza dough on a greased rimmed baking sheet and press into a large rectangle.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough.
- Top with the beef mixture, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
- Add another cup of cheese on top, then drizzle with 1/4 cup of the Parmesan-peppercorn dressing.
- Starting at one long side, roll up the dough carefully, pinching the ends to seal.
- Arrange the rolled dough seam-side down on the baking sheet and cut slits at 1-inch intervals along the top.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown.
- Let the stromboli stand for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with remaining dressing for dipping.
Notes
For richer flavor, brush the top with olive oil or melted butter before baking. Adjust seasoning and filling to your liking for different variations.
