Description

A comforting one-pan cheeseburger pie that combines the classic flavors of a cheeseburger into a savory pie, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onions over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Place the pie crust in a greased pie pan.
  5. Pour the beef mixture into the crust, then sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  6. If desired, cover with another pie crust and cut slits for ventilation. Otherwise, leave open-faced.
  7. Brush with egg wash if using.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Experiment with different cheeses and add veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for a variation.
