Description
Delightful mini French pastries coated in sugar and cinnamon, perfect for breakfast gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Shortening
- 1 Large Egg
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)
Instructions
- Begin by generously spraying a 24-cavity mini muffin pan with a flour-based baking spray.
- Whisk together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar mix. Set it aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Set aside.
- Beat together the vegetable shortening and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy.
- Add the large egg and mix until well combined.
- Reduce mixer speed to low, and alternately add the milk and dry mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Evenly distribute the batter into mini muffin cavities using a medium-sized cookie scoop.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes at 350ºF or until golden brown.
- Roll the breakfast puffs in melted butter and coat with cinnamon sugar mix.
Notes
Experiment with adding lemon zest or mini chocolate chips for a unique twist.
