Description

Delightful mini French pastries coated in sugar and cinnamon, perfect for breakfast gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Begin by generously spraying a 24-cavity mini muffin pan with a flour-based baking spray.
  2. Whisk together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar mix. Set it aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Set aside.
  4. Beat together the vegetable shortening and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the large egg and mix until well combined.
  6. Reduce mixer speed to low, and alternately add the milk and dry mixture, mixing just until combined.
  7. Evenly distribute the batter into mini muffin cavities using a medium-sized cookie scoop.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes at 350ºF or until golden brown.
  9. Roll the breakfast puffs in melted butter and coat with cinnamon sugar mix.

Notes

Experiment with adding lemon zest or mini chocolate chips for a unique twist.
