Description

Learn how to make delicious Ground Beef Sloppy Joes with this easy recipe. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 454 g lean ground beef
  • 60 ml chopped onion
  • 60 ml chopped green bell pepper
  • 180 ml tomato sauce, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) brown sugar, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) mustard, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) garlic powder
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 6 hamburger buns, split

Instructions

  1. Warm up a large pan on medium heat. Place the lean ground beef into the heated pan and stir until the fat begins to melt, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Introduce the chopped onion and green bell pepper; continue cooking until the vegetables become tender and the beef is fully browned, around 3 to 5 minutes longer.
  3. Mix in the tomato sauce, brown sugar, mustard, and garlic powder; add salt and ground black pepper to your liking.
  4. Lower the heat to a simmer and let the mixture cook gently for 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Evenly spread the beef mixture onto the split hamburger buns.

Notes

  • Consider using whole wheat hamburger buns for a healthier option.
  • Adjust the tomato sauce, brown sugar, and mustard to your taste.
  • Add shredded cheese on top for extra flavor or sprinkle red pepper flakes for some heat.
