Description

Discover how to make a delicious Ground Beef and Mushroom Skillet recipe that is easy to prepare and perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (450 grams)
  • 8 ounces (227 g) mushrooms, sliced (225 grams)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1 gram)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried thyme (1 gram)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) beef broth (60 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh parsley, chopped (8 grams)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Mix in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their juices and soften, about 5 minutes.
  6. Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, and dried thyme, stirring to combine.
  7. Pour in the soy sauce and beef broth, stirring well.
  8. Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  9. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the top.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Try enhancing the savory taste by using a variety of mushrooms like cremini, shiitake, or oyster.
  • Add extra nutrition by including diced bell peppers or carrots for more vegetables.
  • For a healthier option, reduce salt by using reduced-sodium soy sauce or beef broth.
