Description

A delightful glazed apple slab pie combining flaky crust and spiced apples, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons cold water
  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a sheet pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough in half, shape it into discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out one disc to fit the sheet pan, and place it in the pan.
  5. In another bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour the apple mixture over the crust.
  6. Roll out the second disc and place it over the apples, sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until apples are tender and the crust is golden.
  8. Let it cool before glazing.
  9. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled pie before serving.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
