Description
Delicious soy garlic chicken thighs that are crispy on the outside and glazed with a sweet and savory sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp potato starch
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp neutral oil for pan frying
- 8 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- Green onion (green part) for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the soy garlic chicken sauce by combining chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel to eliminate excess moisture.
- Mix the potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on a large plate, then lightly coat the chicken thighs on both sides with this mixture.
- Heat enough neutral oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Add the chicken thighs once the oil is hot, frying until golden brown on both sides, about 7 minutes per side. Remove from pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the minced garlic, white parts of the green onion, and red chili flakes. Sauté for about 3 minutes until the garlic turns golden brown.
- Stir the prepared sauce into the pan and cook for 1 minute until thickened.
- Return the fried chicken thighs to the pan, cooking for an additional 5 minutes until fully cooked and coated with the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with green parts of green onion and sesame seeds.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken before cooking. Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer red chili flakes.
