Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) chicken breast (450 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) black pepper (5 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) garlic powder (8 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) onion powder (8 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce (15 milliliters)
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (1)
  • 8 ounces (227 g) penne pasta (225 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream (240 milliliters)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chicken broth (240 milliliters)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) grated alternative cheese (50 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) red pepper flakes, optional (5 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chopped parsley (8 grams)


Instructions

  1. Boil a pot of water and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Cook the chicken until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  7. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and sauté for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.
  8. Add honey and soy sauce to the skillet with the bell pepper, stirring to combine.
  9. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the honey-soy mixture.
  10. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  11. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  12. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and optional red pepper flakes, mixing until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  13. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce.
  14. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
  15. Serve the honey pepper chicken pasta warm.
