Delicious and easy-to-make cake mix donuts, perfect for any occasion, with a variety of glazes to choose from.
Ingredients
- 1 box cake mix (any flavor; yellow cake mix works well)
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup oil (light olive oil or any neutral-flavored oil)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles (optional)
- For glazes: 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (for chocolate glaze)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (for maple glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and spray the donut pans with non-stick spray.
- Combine the cake mix, egg, oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until combined.
- Fill a piping bag or Ziploc bag with the donut batter and snip off the corner to fill each donut cavity about 3/4 full.
- Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the donuts in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the glazes by whisking the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together, and add cocoa powder for chocolate glaze.
- Dip the top side of each cooled donut into the desired glaze and allow excess to drip off before setting them back on the rack.
