Ingredients
- 1 lb (454 g) Ground beef
- 1 cup (240 ml) Shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small Onion, sliced into rings
- 1 cup (240 ml) All-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240 ml) Breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 2 large Eggs, beaten
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) Garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) Onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 slices Turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup (240 ml) Yogurt-based dressing for dipping
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Warm up your oil to 350°F (175°C) in a large pot or deep fryer.
- In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Take each onion ring and stuff the center with a bit of the beef mixture.
- Prepare a coating station with three separate dishes: one for flour, one for the beaten eggs, and one for the breadcrumbs.
- Coat each filled onion ring by first rolling it in flour, then dipping it in the beaten eggs, and finally covering it thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- Gently lower the breaded onion rings into the hot oil and fry them for 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crunchy.
- Take them out of the oil and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
- While still hot, sprinkle them immediately with crumbled bacon and additional cheese.
- Present them warm with a yogurt-based dressing or your preferred dipping sauce.
