Description

Cheesy meatball subs are a comforting combination of juicy meatballs, zesty marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese, all nestled in toasted hoagie rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil for toasting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  3. In a skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned.
  4. Once browned, add marinara sauce to the skillet and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Slice the hoagie rolls and place a few meatballs in each roll.
  6. Top with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Place the subs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your cheesy meatball subs!

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing fresh herbs into the meatball mixture and adjusting the marinara with sautéed veggies.
