Description
Cheesy meatball subs are a comforting combination of juicy meatballs, zesty marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese, all nestled in toasted hoagie rolls.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil for toasting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.
- In a skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat and cook the meatballs until browned.
- Once browned, add marinara sauce to the skillet and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls and place a few meatballs in each roll.
- Top with mozzarella cheese.
- Place the subs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your cheesy meatball subs!
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing fresh herbs into the meatball mixture and adjusting the marinara with sautéed veggies.
