Description

A comforting and delightful banana bread recipe that combines ripe bananas with simple ingredients to create a moist and flavorful loaf, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  9. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
  11. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

If using green bananas, place them in a brown paper bag to speed up the ripening process. For added flavor, consider mixing in chopped chocolate or dried fruit.
