Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup cherry syrup
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- Cherries for topping
- White chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Stir in the cherry syrup until well blended.
- Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Once the cakes have cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of whipped cream on top, then add some cherries.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream.
- Garnish with more cherries and white chocolate shavings. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Ensure butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature for best results. Cooling the cake completely before frosting is crucial.
