Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) ground beef divided into 4 balls
- 4 slices turkey bacon
- 1 cup (240 ml) crumbled feta cheese
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s cream cheese
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s butter
- 4 burger buns toasted
Instructions
- Start by frying the turkey bacon in a pan over medium heat until it becomes crispy and golden-brown. Place it on paper towels to absorb excess oil and keep it aside. You can prepare this part in advance, as it reheats well.
- In a small blender or food processor, mix the crumbled feta cheese with the cream cheese. Blend until the mixture is smooth, airy, and easy to spread. This should take roughly 30 seconds. If it’s too thick, add a bit of water or milk to thin it out.
- Melt the butter in a small pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1–2 minutes until it becomes fragrant and lightly golden, without letting it brown too much. Turn off the heat and set the mixture aside.
- Heat a large skillet (ideally cast iron) over medium-high heat until it’s hot. Place the beef portions in the skillet and use a flat spatula to press each one down immediately, forming thin patties. Allow them to cook without moving for 2–3 minutes until a dark crust develops. Flip them over and cook for another 2–3 minutes on the other side. Remove from the skillet and let them rest for a short time.
- Lightly toast the burger buns in a dry pan or toaster until they are slightly golden. While still warm, generously coat the cut sides with the garlic butter mixture.
- Apply a thick layer of whipped feta on the bottom bun. Place a hot smashed beef patty on top, add a slice of crispy turkey bacon, and cover with the garlic-buttered top bun. Serve right away while everything is warm and melted.
