Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds (907 g) venison stew meat
  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cup (720 ml) s water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) salt
  • 5 teaspoon (3 ml) dried oregano
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 7 small potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1 pound (454 g) carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 25 cup (60 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 25 cup (60 ml) water

Instructions

  1. Warm up the vegetable oil in a substantial, sturdy pot over a medium flame. Introduce the venison stew meat; sauté and mix until it achieves a deep brown color, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Incorporate the chopped onions and minced garlic; continue cooking and stirring until they become clear, roughly 5 minutes.
  2. Pour in the water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, oregano, and bay leaf. Place a lid on the pot and let it gently cook until the venison turns tender, around 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  3. Add the peeled and quartered potatoes and the sliced carrots; allow them to cook until they soften, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. In a separate small bowl, blend the all-purpose flour with water; introduce this mixture into the stew and continue to cook until the consistency thickens, taking 5 to 10 minutes. Discard the bay leaf before serving.
