Ingredients

  • 1 (227 g) package angel hair pasta
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • 1 pound (454 g) cubed lean beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 (170 g) can tomato paste
  • 2 (425 g) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) dried dill
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) dried marjoram
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (8 ml) Italian seasoning
  • 4 ounces (113 g) shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) plant-based Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and coat a baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a big pot, boil water with a bit of salt. Cook the angel hair pasta for 3 to 5 minutes until it has a firm texture, then drain.
  3. As the pasta cooks, warm olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat until it starts to smoke.
  4. Add the lean beef cubes and cook them until they turn brown, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Mix in the diced onion and bell pepper, continuing to cook until they become tender, about 4 minutes.
  6. Stir in the tomato paste and tomato sauce, and season with garlic salt, dill, marjoram, and Italian seasoning.
  7. Let the mixture come to a boil, then lower the heat to medium and let it cook slowly for 5 minutes.
  8. Transfer the drained pasta into the prepared baking dish and pour the beef mixture on top.
  9. Scatter the shredded Mozzarella and plant-based Parmesan cheese over the dish.
  10. Bake in the oven until the cheese is melted and golden brown, roughly 25 minutes.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using a combination of ground beef and Italian sausage instead of lean beef cubes.
  • Enhance freshness by adding chopped basil or parsley to the dish.
  • For a spicier twist, mix in red pepper flakes with the beef mixture.
