Description

A flavorful dish that highlights the tender and robust characteristics of venison cube steak, seasoned simply for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb venison cube steak
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the venison cube steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Dredge the steak in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the steak and cook until browned on both sides.
  5. Remove the steak and set it aside.
  6. In the same skillet, add sliced onion and mushrooms, cooking until softened.
  7. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits.
  8. Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and simmer until cooked through.
  9. If the sauce is too thin, mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce to thicken.
  10. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Be patient with the searing process to enhance texture and flavor. Use fresh herbs for aroma and additional taste.
