Description
A comforting venison cube steak recipe seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and paprika, pan-fried to perfection.
Ingredients
- 4-5 thin-cut cube steaks (or round steak)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp oil (plus more if needed)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour (divided)
- 1 cup of broth
Instructions
- Begin by seasoning the cube steaks with salt, pepper, and paprika on both sides.
- Press each steak into the flour, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- Heat 4 tbsp of oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each steak for 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the steaks and place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Repeat the process for remaining steaks.
- For gravy, melt butter in the same skillet, stir in 1 tbsp of flour, and scrape up browned bits.
- Slowly add broth while whisking continuously to create a smooth gravy. Add remaining flour for thicker consistency if desired.
Notes
Allow steaks to rest after cooking for juicier bites. Explore different seasonings like garlic powder or onion powder for added flavor.
