Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) ground beef
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 11/2 cup (1320 ml) pickles chopped
- 1 cup (240 ml) cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 cup (240 ml) mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- Oil for frying
- Cheese sauce for dipping
Instructions
- In a large pan, cook the bacon until it becomes crispy. Remove and set aside. Using the same pan, brown the ground beef and onion together. If necessary, drain any extra fat.
- Return the crispy bacon to the pan with the beef. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, pickles, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined and the cheese is fully melted. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
- Place around 2 tablespoons of the beef filling in the center of each egg roll wrapper. Fold the sides inward and roll tightly, using water to seal the ends. Do the same with the remaining wrappers and mixture.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the egg rolls in groups until they are golden brown, which should take about 3-4 minutes. Drain them on paper towels.
- Serve them hot alongside cheese sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Consider enhancing the flavor by adding a hint of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the beef filling mixture.
- Ensure the egg roll wrappers are tightly sealed to prevent any filling from leaking out while frying.
- Get creative by trying out different cheese varieties like pepper jack or Swiss for a unique spin on this recipe.
