Description

A creamy and cheesy casserole with a crunchy breadcrumb topping, perfect for Thanksgiving gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  4. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  6. Stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until melted and smooth.
  7. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni and mix well.
  8. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  9. In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
