A flavorful and juicy Texas style brisket slow-cooked to perfection, embodying the spirit of delicious home cooking.
Ingredients
- 4-5 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Mix smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl to create a rub.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.
- Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour beef broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the pan with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
- Roast the brisket for about 3-4 hours, or until it’s tender.
- Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and roast for an additional 30 minutes to an hour.
- Let the brisket rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with BBQ sauce on the side.
Notes
Allow ample time for cooking; brisket is not a quick dish. Adjust temperatures if bark isn’t forming correctly.
