Description

A delightful fusion of traditional taco ingredients layered into a comforting casserole that bursts with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 ½ tbsp taco seasoning mix
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup salsa con queso
  • 3 8-inch flour tortillas or corn tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar cheese
  • Sour cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Heat some oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as you stir.
  4. Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the beef and pour in the water. Stir to combine and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the salsa con queso until well mixed.
  6. Spray an 8-inch round baking tin with cooking spray.
  7. Layer the bottom of the tin with one tortilla.
  8. Spoon 1/3 of the beef mixture over the tortilla, then top with 1/3 of the shredded cheese.
  9. Repeat these layers two more times, finishing with cheese on top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
  11. Allow the taco bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, cook the beef with chopped onions or garlic. Consider using different cheeses for variety.
