Ingredients
- 1 (450 g) sweet potato, with skin
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200 g) white sugar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Instructions
- Collect all necessary items.
- Place the entire sweet potato in a saucepan and submerge in water; heat until boiling. Cook until a fork easily pierces it, about 40 to 50 minutes.
- Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Take the sweet potato out of the water, cool under cold running water, and peel off the skin. Tear the sweet potato into pieces and transfer to a mixing bowl. Combine with butter using an electric mixer until thoroughly blended.
- Incorporate sugar, milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract; mix on medium speed until the texture is even and smooth.
- Transfer the mixture into the uncooked pie crust.
- Bake in the oven that was preheated, checking for doneness when a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean, approximately 55 to 60 minutes. Allow to cool entirely before serving.
Notes
- For a healthier option, consider using coconut oil instead of butter for a unique flavor.
- Experiment with spices like ginger or allspice to customize the pie’s taste.
- Try a homemade pie crust for an authentic and rustic touch to your dessert.
