Description

A rich and comforting banana bread featuring ripe bananas and chocolate chips, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (360g) mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4 medium bananas)
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, vegetable oil, and sugar together until combined.
  4. Add the eggs to the mixture, mixing thoroughly, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Fold in the mashed bananas until well integrated.
  6. Gently stir in the dry ingredient mixture just until no flour streaks remain.
  7. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips and pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, tenting with foil if it browns too quickly. Check doneness with a skewer.
  9. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan before lifting it out using the parchment overhang, then let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients and ripe bananas. Store wrapped tightly to maintain moisture.
