Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split green peas
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Rinse the split peas under cold water and set them aside.
  2. In a large pot, sauté the onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Stir in the split peas, ham bone, broth, and thyme.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1-1.5 hours, or until the peas are tender.
