Description

Discover a delicious recipe for Spinach and Sausage Rotels that combines savory sausage with nutritious spinach for a flavorful meal the whole family will love. Try it today!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb (227 g) ground Beef
  • 1 package (10 oz (283 g)) frozen spinach, thawed
  • 1 lb (454 g) pizza or bread dough, thawed
  • 1/2 lb (227 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Ranch or marinara, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F to preheat.
  2. In a large pan, cook the ground beef until it’s fully browned.
  3. Drain the spinach to get rid of extra liquid. Add it to the pan with the beef and cook until warmed. Put it aside.
  4. Flatten the dough into a rectangle measuring 14×6 inches, maintaining a thickness of about 1/3-inch. Scatter half of the mozzarella over it, followed by the spinach and beef mixture, then the rest of the cheese.
  5. Roll the dough up tightly, beginning from the long side, similar to a jelly roll.
  6. Seal the seam by pinching it together. Also, pinch the ends to ensure they are fully closed, then lay it seam side down on a baking sheet.
  7. Cook in the oven for 30 minutes or until it turns golden brown. Allow it to rest for 5-10 minutes before cutting into slices.

Notes

  • Thoroughly drain the thawed spinach to prevent excess water in the calzone.
  • Customize the filling with toppings like mushrooms, peppers, or olives.
  • Brush olive oil on the calzone before baking for a crispier crust.
