Description

This speedy same day sourdough bread recipe delivers a delicious loaf with a crispy crust and soft interior in less time than traditional methods.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
  2. Add the active sourdough starter and warm water, stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise at room temperature for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
  6. Once the dough has risen, shape it into a loaf and place it on parchment paper.
  7. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven, place the dough inside (with parchment), cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Ensure your water is warm but not hot. Use a digital thermometer to check the yeast activation temperature.
