Description

A comforting Southern dish featuring sautéed cabbage, crispy bacon, and sweet onions, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped
  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped bacon over medium heat in a large skillet until crispy.
  2. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the grease in the pan.
  3. Add sliced onion to the pan and sauté until translucent.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring well to combine with the onions and bacon grease.
  5. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with the crispy bacon.

Notes

For a bit of heat, add red pepper flakes. If you prefer a vegetarian version, skip the bacon and use olive oil.
