Description

Delicious rolls made using sourdough discard, offering a crispy exterior and soft interior. Perfect for reducing kitchen waste while elevating your baking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 packet active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir gently until dissolved.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over the water mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
  3. Add the sourdough discard and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Stir well to combine.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a clean cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour in a warm place.
  7. After rising, punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces.
  8. Shape each piece into rolls and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  9. Let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating herbs or spices into the dough. Adjust rising time based on kitchen temperature for best results.
