Description

Crispy and flavorful sourdough discard crackers made from leftover starter, perfect for snacking or pairing with dips.


Ingredients

  • 200 grams sourdough discard (1 cup stirred and unfed starter)
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
  • Seasonings to taste (flaky sea salt, everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, etc.)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a large measuring cup or mixing bowl and allow it to cool until just lukewarm.
  3. Add the sourdough discard and salt to the cooled butter, then stir with a spatula until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture onto your prepared parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it into a thin, even layer.
  5. Lightly sprinkle the surface with flaky salt and your chosen seasonings.
  6. Transfer the baking sheet immediately to the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and score the dough into bite-size squares using a pizza cutter.
  8. Return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden and firm.
  9. Let the crackers cool on the baking sheet, then store them in an airtight container or zip bag.
