Description

Transform leftover sourdough discard into deliciously cheesy biscuits that are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 stick melted butter (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter and cheddar cheese to the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix in the sourdough discard until a large dough ball forms.
  5. Divide the dough into nine equal portions and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until firm and slightly golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 3-5 minutes on the pan before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese and consider adding herbs or spices for extra flavor.
