Description

A nostalgic cinnamon sugar bread made with sourdough starter that evokes fond memories of family and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 2 eggs


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, and sugar. Mix well.
  2. Add the softened butter and eggs, mixing until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough into a log and place in a greased bread pan.
  9. Let rise again until nearly doubled.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool before slicing and enjoy your delicious cinnamon sugar bread!
