Description
A nostalgic cinnamon sugar bread made with sourdough starter that evokes fond memories of family and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, and sugar. Mix well.
- Add the softened butter and eggs, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough into a log and place in a greased bread pan.
- Let rise again until nearly doubled.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing and enjoy your delicious cinnamon sugar bread!
