Description

Delightful sourdough cinnamon rolls with rich flavors and a soft texture, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Additional cinnamon and sugar for filling
  • Cream cheese frosting (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the sourdough discard, milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the rolled dough.
  7. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  10. Optionally, top with cream cheese frosting when cooled.

Notes

Experiment with varying the amount of cinnamon and sugar in the filling according to personal flavor preferences. Allow dough to rest for 10-15 minutes after mixing for fluffier rolls.
