Ingredients
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the active sourdough starter, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the flour and baking powder, and stir until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Scoop about a tablespoon of dough and carefully drop it into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
