Description

A comforting layered dish of seasoned meat and tender vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheese, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add onion, carrots, and garlic, cooking until the vegetables are soft.
  4. Stir in the peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour the meat mixture into a baking dish.
  6. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat mixture, smoothing out the top.
  7. Sprinkle cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
