Ingredients
- 450 grams lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped

- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 225 grams uncooked pasta
- 240 milliliters water
- 240 milliliters shredded mozzarella cheese
- 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
- Add the lean ground beef to the skillet and brown, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat.
- Transfer the beef mixture to the slow cooker.
- Add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the slow cooker.
- Stir in dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Add uncooked pasta to the slow cooker, spreading it evenly.
- Pour water over the pasta and stir gently to combine.
- Cover the slow cooker with the lid.
- Cook on low for 3-4 hours, or until pasta is tender.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the mixture.
- Cover and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes on low to melt the cheese.
- Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
