Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- Mash the ripe bananas well in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until combined.
- Whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure bananas are fully ripe for the best flavor and natural sweetness. Overmixing the batter can lead to a dense loaf; mix just until combined.
