Description

This delicious Pumpkin Streusel Bread features a moist texture paired with a crunchy, sweet streusel topping, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, lightly packed (or light brown sugar)
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for streusel topping)
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (for streusel topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark, for streusel topping)
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon (for streusel topping)
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/4 tsp maple extract (or vanilla, for glaze)
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1 Tbsp milk or cream (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease your loaf pan liberally or line it with parchment paper and grease.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar with a handheld electric mixer for about one minute until smooth.
  3. Add the pumpkin puree and mix well. Follow by adding the eggs one at a time, ensuring you mix well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add the spices, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and flour to the mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the bread tender.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it in an even layer.
  6. For the streusel topping, combine melted butter, flour, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice in a medium bowl. Mix until it resembles wet sand.
  7. Sprinkle heaping handfuls of the streusel over the top of the batter evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow it to cool completely on a wire rack before glazing.
  10. For the glaze, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, maple extract, maple syrup, and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

Ensure to check for doneness with a toothpick and adjust baking time as needed. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
