Description

Delightful Puerto Rican pastries filled with cream cheese, perfect for gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (plus more for sprinkling)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
  2. Cut the puff pastry sheet into 4-inch squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until it is soft and creamy.
  4. Place 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese filling in the center of each puff pastry square.
  5. Fold one tip over the filling, then fold the diagonal tip to close the quesito.
  6. Mix the egg with the granulated sugar and brush it over the quesitos.
  7. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Sprinkle a bit more powdered sugar on top and serve.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese. Consider adding cinnamon or almond extract for unique variations.
