Delightful Puerto Rican pastries filled with cream cheese, perfect for gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 puff pastry sheet
- ½ cup cream cheese
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (plus more for sprinkling)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
- Cut the puff pastry sheet into 4-inch squares.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until it is soft and creamy.
- Place 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese filling in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Fold one tip over the filling, then fold the diagonal tip to close the quesito.
- Mix the egg with the granulated sugar and brush it over the quesitos.
- Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Sprinkle a bit more powdered sugar on top and serve.
Notes
For best results, use full-fat cream cheese. Consider adding cinnamon or almond extract for unique variations.
