- 3 pounds of peeled russet potatoes (about 4 or 5 medium potatoes)
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of shredded white cheddar cheese
- 6 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

- Add the sliced potatoes and toss until well coated. Season generously with salt and pepper to taste.
- Line the bottom of the baking dish with stacks of potatoes, keeping them upright. Repeat until all potatoes are used.
- Evenly pour any excess cream mixture over the layered potatoes and lightly season with additional salt and pepper.
- Dot the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, cover the dish with foil, and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
- After baking, uncover the dish, sprinkle the top with the remaining Parmesan, and continue baking for an additional 25 to 30 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- Transfer the dish to a broiler for 1 minute to brown the top, then let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a creamier texture, let the assembled dish rest for a few minutes before baking. Infuse the cream with herbs for added flavor.
