Delicious overnight cinnamon rolls made with sourdough starter that brings comfort and nostalgia to breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter (or sourdough discard)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for filling)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, sourdough starter, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise overnight in the refrigerator.
- The next day, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread melted butter on the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar for filling.
- Roll the dough tightly and slice it into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased pan.
- Cover and let them rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow them to cool before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure your sourdough starter is active. Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
