Description

Delicious overnight cinnamon rolls made with sourdough starter that brings comfort and nostalgia to breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (or sourdough discard)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for filling)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, sourdough starter, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. The next day, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  5. Spread melted butter on the dough, then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar for filling.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and slice it into rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased pan.
  8. Cover and let them rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  9. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Allow them to cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure your sourdough starter is active. Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
