Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- ¾ cup raw honey
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- Zest of 2 oranges
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 2 tbsp honey (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl until combined.
- Mix together the melted butter, honey, and eggs in a separate bowl until well incorporated.
- Stir in the fresh orange juice, orange zest, and grated ginger.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Brush the warm cake with the honey-orange glaze as soon as it’s out of the oven.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use fresh ginger for a vibrant flavor and adjust spices based on preference. Let the cake sit overnight for deeper flavors.
