Ingredients
- – 1-1/2 lbs. (680 g) lean ground beef
- – 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) olive oil
- – 2 cups (480 ml) uncooked elbow macaroni
- – 1 small green pepper, diced
- – 1 small onion, diced
- – 1 15-oz can tomato sauce
- – 1 cup (240 ml) water
- – 1 tsp. (5 ml) salt
- – 1/2 tsp. (2.5 ml) pepper
- – 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat until browned. Remove excess fat and transfer the beef to a separate dish.
- In the same pot, pour in the olive oil, then sauté the diced onion, green pepper, and uncooked macaroni. Stir occasionally until the onion and pepper begin to soften.
- Return the cooked beef to the pot, then incorporate the tomato sauce, water, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Place a lid on the pot and let it simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the macaroni reaches your desired tenderness.
- Serve the dish into bowls and savor! (Yields about 6 servings)
Notes
- Consider using ground turkey or chicken for a lighter meal.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.
- Customize with vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, or spinach for added nutrition.
