Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds beef round steak, tenderized
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup chopped bell peppers
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Season the beef steak generously on both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Brown the steak on both sides in the skillet, then remove it and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onions, bell peppers, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Return the browned steak to the skillet, then add the tomato sauce, beef broth, garlic powder, paprika, and Italian seasoning. Stir well to combine.
- Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 120-180 minutes, or until the beef becomes fork-tender.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
For more flavor, consider marinating the steak for a few hours before cooking.
