Description
A lighter take on a classic dish featuring tender ground turkey, fresh herbs, and a sweet glaze.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 yellow onion (finely diced)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (minced)
- 2 lb 93/7 ground turkey
- 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
- 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat, add onions, and sauté until tender, about 4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and thyme until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, eggs, breadcrumbs, parsley, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cooled onion mixture. Toss until fully incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into eighths, forming small loaves. Arrange the loaves evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup, balsamic vinegar, and brown sugar. Brush half the glaze over the tops of the meatloaves.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Add the remaining glaze and continue cooking for another 5-10 minutes, or until the center reaches 150°F.
- Remove the meatloaves from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices based on your family’s preferences. For added richness, consider using extra seasoning with the breadcrumbs.
