Description

A lighter take on a classic dish featuring tender ground turkey, fresh herbs, and a sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (minced)
  • 2 lb 93/7 ground turkey
  • 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat, add onions, and sauté until tender, about 4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and thyme until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, eggs, breadcrumbs, parsley, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cooled onion mixture. Toss until fully incorporated.
  4. Divide the mixture into eighths, forming small loaves. Arrange the loaves evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, balsamic vinegar, and brown sugar. Brush half the glaze over the tops of the meatloaves.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Add the remaining glaze and continue cooking for another 5-10 minutes, or until the center reaches 150°F.
  7. Remove the meatloaves from the oven and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices based on your family’s preferences. For added richness, consider using extra seasoning with the breadcrumbs.
