Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds sirloin, chopped into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 8 corn tortillas (or any preferred type)
  • 1 tub sour cream
  • 1 pack cotija cheese
  • 1 jar store-bought guacamole
  • 1 jar store-bought salsa

  • Chopped cilantro for garnish
  • Hot sauce of your choice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the sirloin steak dry and chop it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. Mix spices, salt, and brown sugar in a bowl until well combined.
  3. Toss steak cubes in a large bowl with vegetable oil and the spice rub to coat.
  4. Let the meat marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
  6. Sear the steak for 1 to 2 minutes per side until browned, about 3 to 5 minutes total.
  7. Place cooked steak on tortillas and add toppings as desired.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve immediately.

Notes

Feel free to customize toppings based on your preferences. Toasting tortillas enhances their flavor.
